Terms of Service
1. About TOK Lens
TOK Lens is a Chrome Extension that uses AI (Google Gemini) to help IB Theory of Knowledge students identify TOK concepts, build knowledge claims, and organize evidence. The service is operated by TOK Lens (support@toklens.com).
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use TOK Lens. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have parental or guardian consent. TOK Lens is intended for educational use by IB students, educators, and academic institutions.
3. Accounts and sign-in
Sign-in is handled via Google OAuth. You are responsible for any activity that occurs under your account. You must not share your account or allow others to use it. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit AI-generated content as entirely your own work in violation of your school’s academic integrity policy
- Reverse engineer or decompile the extension
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits, billing, or access controls
- Use the service to process illegal or harmful content
- Resell or commercially redistribute the service without written permission
- Send automated or bulk requests to our API
5. Subscription and credits
Free tier
Free users receive a limited number of analyses per day. Free tier features are provided “as is” with no guaranteed uptime.
Premium subscription
Premium subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe and auto-renew unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time through the TOK Lens popup or by emailing support@toklens.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no partial refunds are issued for unused days.
Credit packs
Credit packs are one-time purchases of additional analyses. Credits do not expire while your account is active and are non-refundable once purchased except where required by applicable law.
Refunds
If you experience a technical issue preventing use of the service, contact support@toklens.com within 7 days of purchase. Refunds are issued at our discretion in accordance with applicable consumer protection laws.
Price changes
We reserve the right to change subscription prices with at least 30 days’ notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
6. AI-generated content
TOK Lens uses Google Gemini to generate analysis and commentary. AI-generated content may be inaccurate or incomplete. You are responsible for verifying any AI output before relying on it for academic work. We do not warrant that any analysis is correct or aligned with your specific IB syllabus.
7. Intellectual property
TOK Lens, its name, logo, and UI design are owned by TOK Lens. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works without express written permission.
Text you input for analysis remains your property. By submitting text, you grant us a limited, transient licence to process it solely to provide the service.
8. Privacy
Your use of TOK Lens is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, TOK LENS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim, or USD $10, whichever is greater.
11. Termination
You may stop using TOK Lens at any time by uninstalling the extension and cancelling your subscription. We may suspend your access if you violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent activity.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the Chrome Web Store update notes. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by applicable law. Disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, then binding arbitration or the courts of the jurisdiction in which TOK Lens is operated.
